- Our first stop is the historic Natore Rajbari—one of the most prominent and oldest royal palaces in the area, rich in architectural charm and legacy.
- After enjoying lunch, we head to Puthia, famously known as the ‘Temple City’ of Bangladesh. This unique village holds the highest concentration of ancient Hindu temples in the country. You’ll explore the majestic Shiva Temple—one of the largest in the region—and the beautifully adorned Govinda Temple, set within the elegant courtyard of an old Rajbari, decorated with intricate terracotta artwork.
- In the evening, we continue our journey to Rajshahi city, where we’ll settle in for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Paharpur Monastery, Mahasthangarh Ruins & Kusumba Mosque
- Today, we head to Paharpur to explore one of Bangladesh’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites—Sompura Mahavihara, also known as Paharpur Buddhist Vihara. Along the way, you’ll enjoy scenic countryside views filled with lush vegetable and fruit fields. The picturesque betel leaf gardens are particularly photogenic and offer a glimpse into rural life.
- En route, we stop at the beautiful Kusumba Mosque, an architectural gem from the Afghan period of Bengal, renowned for its stone craftsmanship and historical significance.
- Our highlight for the day is the Paharpur Vihara, an 8th-century Buddhist monastery that once stood as the largest of its kind south of the Himalayas. This majestic archaeological site is unmatched in its scale and historical value in the region.
- After lunch, we continue to Bogra to explore Mahasthangarh, the oldest known city in Bangladesh, dating back to at least the 3rd century BCE. While most of the site now consists of ancient foundations and grassy mounds, it hints at a glorious past. The Mahasthangarh site museum offers fascinating artifacts that bring the history to life, and Behula Bashor Ghor, steeped in folklore, is a must-see within the complex.
- We’ll wrap up the day with a serene visit to Vasu Vihara, another ancient Buddhist ruin. As the sun sets over the surrounding fields, you’ll experience the quiet beauty of Bangladesh’s rural heritage.
